Royals celebrated a 5-4 playoff win over Mater Dei

GOLETA, Calif.- San Marcos High School girls water polo had a fantastic finishing touch against Mater Dei in a CIF Division 1 first round playoff game.

UCLA-bound Cassidy Miller scored with 1:19 to play to tie the game at 4 and then USC-commit Hannah Meyer scored the game-winner with 29 seconds to play as the Royals edged the Monarchs 5-4.

Meyer's goal gave San Marcos their only lead of the game. The Royals play Foothill on Wednesday, February 19 at the Irvine Aquatics Center.

Mater Dei led 1-0 at half before the Royals scored to open the second half on a goal by UCLA-commit Clare Kronen.

Freshman Reagan McEachen and Ava Stryker also scored in the third quarter and the game was tied at 3 heading into the fourth quarter.

From there the seniors Miller and Meyer came through in the clutch to extend the Royals season.
