Gauchos stage furious second half rally to stun Hawaii

UC SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - UCSB stunned Hawaii with a 32-6 second half run to win a 72-69 thriller at the Thunderdome.

Trailing 51-31 early in the second half the Gauchos trimmed the deficit to 57-53 in the final seconds of the third quarter as Alexis Tucker was fouled while making a three-pointer and she completed the 4-point play.

The Gauchos scored the first 10 points of the fourth quarter to lead 63-57 with 5:55 remaining.

But Hawaii answered back and tied the game at 67 on a three-pointer by Meilani Mcbee with :59 seconds left.

The Gauchos took the lead for good when Ila Lane scored on a putback with :37 seconds left.

Tucker had a game-high 23 points while Lane recorded her eighth double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Alexis Whitfield and Alyssa Marin each added 11 points for UCSB who improved to 7-2 in the Big West and 14-5 overall.
