All-American seniors will return to UCSB volleyball for another run at title
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - It is not over for four All-American seniors on the UCSB men's volleyball team.
National Coach of the Year Rick McLaughlin told KEYT in an email that his four superstar seniors that led UCSB to a 14-2 record and a #3 ranking before the season was canceled will all return for the 2021 season.
All-American First Team setter Casey McGarry, All-American Second Team selections Randy Deweese and Keenan Sanders along with All-American Honorable Mention Roy McFarland are all coming back to see if they can win UCSB's first ever men's volleyball National Championship.
"We are very excited to have Casey, Randy, Keenan and Roy coming back," McLaughlin said. "I can't wait to get started again."
The four stars will take advantage of the NCAA allowing spring athletes another season of eligibility after the coronavirus pandemic canceled the season in mid-March.
UCSB had four other seniors that will not return, Spencer Fredrick, Brandon Hopper, Jack Truman and Grady Yould.
McLaughlin said, "They were great Gauchos who worked very hard and helped make our program what it is."
All eight seniors were on track to graduate this spring.
