Why are you running for office?I hope to help Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties out of the coronavirus disaster and help the homeless and unemployed get out of their predicament. I want to help children, high school and college students overcome learning loss. I want to protect wildlife and endangered species in the two counties I wish to represent, and in the State of California.
What makes you qualified for the job?If I were running for a national office then think the main qualifications would be talents, abilities, and virtues. For this job, I would maintain that diversity in education and jobs in my life make me qualified to help Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties get onto their feet and get everyone working and going to school again.
What are your two main priorities if you win?Helping the homeless and unemployed, and getting children back in the swing of things by overcoming learning loss and making up for the units they may have missed. The homeless need a place to sleep and eat, a place to wash, and a place to store their belongings. The children need books and after-school study to catch up.
How will you collaborate with other governments? I would collaborate with the state, county and local school boards to initiate cognitive testing. This would mean testing in the areas that reveal normal cognitive and brain development. I would try to open state subvention grants for the homeless of this district, and others.
What are the next two issues that are most important to you?Endangered species and the creation of a green, eco-friendly environment where we could work towards the reduction of greenhouse gasses and global warming. I have a four-prong set of actions that I would like to see put in place. If fully acted upon, they would make a marked reduction of carbon dioxide going into the atmosphere and reduce the carbon already there. For endangered species, I would like to see more biology and ecology taught in our grade schools and in colleges and then the creation of jobs in conservation by the state. This would improve our relationship with the environment greatly.
