Oxnard family visits Rose Parade float that honors organ donors

OXNARD, Calif.-The Venegas family of Oxnard is hoping their Rose Parade experience will encourage people to register to become organ donors.

The Venegas visited the Donate Life float the day after the rose parade

The float won the Sweepstakes award.

It honors organ donors such as the late Ivoree Venegas.

Her organs and tissues helped ten people including a neighbor after she was fatally injured falling out of moving truck in November.

She has a been visiting an ex boyfriend and police office in the Houston area when it happened.

An investigation into the death is underway.

Relatives wore shirts with Ivoree's photo to visit the floats.

"I'm taken aback, this is so emotional. My sister is going to live on. This is a beautiful, beautiful float." said Ivoree's brother Isaiah Venegas.

Donate Life float organizers said a floral image will honor Ivoree Venegas next year.

People may sign up to donate organs at registerme.org
