Ventura man arrested for illegal gun possession, multiple shootings in neighborhood

VENTURA, Calif. -- Ventura police arrested a man for multiple shootings on Monday night.
On Monday at around 8:39 p.m., Ventura police received reports of a man firing a gun into the air at the intersection of Mission Avenue and Ventura Avenue.
At arrival, officers attempted to find the man.
During their search they heard more gun shots in the neighborhood.
Officers were then able to locate a man matching the reports in the area.
He was identified as a 25 year old Ventura resident.
Officers detained the man and found a loaded, concealed handgun on him.
Officers say the gun was obtained through an unlawful transfer.
He was arrested for negligent discharge of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm, carrying the gun concealed and unlawful gun transfer.
No one was injured as a result of this incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
