Oxnard man arrested, accused of exchanging drugs for sex with underage girls

VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. -- Ventura police arrested one man accused of sex and oral copulation with a minor along with drug sales to a minor in Oxnard.

After a four-month long investigation, police arrested Abrahan Almaguer, 23, from Oxnard for unlawful sex with a minor, statutory rape and oral copulation upon a person who is under 14 years of age.

Back in February, a minor filed a complaint with the Ventura Police Department saying she was a victim of unlawful sex involving Almaguer.

The victim told detectives that she knew Almaguer as Joey Pryer on Instagram and that Almaguer had sold her several controlled substances over several months.

The victim said in exchange for the controlled substances, the victim had sex with Almaguer. During this time, the victim was 16 years old.

Detectives then obtained warrants to identify Almaguer. In their review, they found several other minors that were potential victims of drug sales and unlawful sexual intercourse.

During Ventura Police Department's investigation into the reported sexual assaults and drug sales, the Ventura County Sheriff's Office Pharmaceutical Crimes Unit received a complaint that Almaguer was involved in the sales of controlled substances to minors.

Sheriff's Office detectives learned through an investigation that there was evidence to prove Almaguer was involved in illicit drug sales activity.

On April 30, the Ventura County Sheriff's Office served search warrants at Almaguer's two residences in Oxnard.

During their search, detectives seized 29 Adderall pills, approximately 314 grams of suspected psilocybin mushrooms, about 27 pounds of marijuana, 8 ounces of suspected liquid THC and numerous other marijuana products.

Based on what was found during the search warrant, Almaguer was arrested for possession of methamphetamines, transport of methamphetamine for sale, and sale or transportation of controlled substances involving minors.

Almaguer was released on zero bail.

On May 11, Ventura Police detectives contacted another minor who was seen communicating with Almaguer on Instagram.

The victim told detectives that on May 24, she went over to Almaguer's residence, where he supplied her with controlled substances, had unlawful sexual intercourse and oral copulation with her.

During this incident, the victim was 14 years old.

As a result of the Ventura Police Departments' investigation, an arrest warrant was filed for the arrest of Almaguer.

On Saturday investigators arrested Almaguer at his West Cedar Street residence without incident.

Almaguer's bail was increased and set at $1,000,000.
