OJAI, Calif. - California Highway Patrol officers received calls about a crash involving a car and motorcycle that took place around 10:15 a.m. on Highway 33 above Ojai.

The callers said the motorcyclist sustained fatal injuries from the crash.

Ventura area CHP officers along with Fort Tejon area officers responded to the scene.

After investigating, officers determined the motorcyclist was traveling southbound on Highway 33 while the driver of a 2007 Subaru was turning from the northbound dirt shoulder of Hwy 33 onto the southbound dirt shoulder.

CHP said the motorcycle struck the right front passenger door of the Subaru, which caused his fatal injuries.

The victim is described as a 35-year-old man from Ventura. His identity will not be released until next of kin are notified.

Officers said both of the two occupants in the Subaru were only minorly injured. The passenger was taken to Ojai Valley Hosital in an ambulance for treatment. The man and woman are both from Oak Park.

Investigators do not suspect drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.

The incident is still under investigation by CHP.
