Ventura closes pier and popular beach parking lots

VENTURA, Calif. - Coronavirus concerns led to the closure of the Ventura Pier.

County crews spent part of Wednesday blocking off parking lots run by the county.

Some people who didn't get the message got their cars towed from Surfers Point by the Ventura County Fairgrounds.

Some surfers parked along the street and headed for the shore.

There wasn't a big swell, so social distancing didn't appear to be a problem in the water.
