21-year-old Oxnard woman killed in rollover crash

OXNARD, Calif. - A 21-year-old Oxnard woman was killed in a rollover crash on Highway 1 Monday morning.

It happened around 5:50 a.m. on Highway 1/Rice Avenue south of Wooley Road in Oxnard.

The woman, identified Maria Arroyo of Oxnard, was traveling southbound on the highway when her 1994 Ford Ranger went off the roadway and crashed into a fence and a tree before ending up on its roof.

Arroyo was the only person in the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the California Highway Patrol, she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

CHP said it is unclear if drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash. Investigators will also work to determine why the vehicle left the roadway.
