Lanes reopen on HWY 101 near Carpinteria after truck overturns on southbound side

CARPINTERIA, Calif. - All southbound lanes of Highway 101 are open near Carpinteria after a temporary closure during a crash Thursday evening.

CHP said the collision happened just before 4 p.m. in a construction zone near the Carpinteria Avenue offramp. At least two vehicles were reportedly invovled, one of which was a white cargo truck.

Officers reported the truck ended up rolling over and smoke and gas were seen coming from the vehicle.

All lanes temporarily closed while emergency personnel responded to the crash.

The number one lane was reopened around 4:25 p.m.

All lanes were reopened by 5:15 p.m.

Crews have classified this as a minor injury incident. It is unclear how many people were injured.
