Truck with thousands of live chickens stalled out along 101 in Summerland

SUMMERLAND, Calif. - Well, why did the chicken cross the road? That's a real question Tuesday morning along Highway 101 in Summerland.

A big rig carrying thousands of pounds of live chickens has stalled out near the southbound Evans Road exit. The driver tells our crews at the scene that a few of the chickens have even escaped.

Traffic in the area was impacted for a while as the truck was moved out of the number two lane. This area is already tight with construction projects and now a large truck with live chickens has tightened it up even more.

Both lanes of traffic are back open. It's not known when the truck will be able to get on it's way. And get the chickens to the other side of the road...
