SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The Santa Barbara City Fire and Police Departments responded to a call about a vehicle that crashed into the side of an apartment building late Saturday morning.

The call came in around 11:24 a.m. Emergency personnel responded to the 2600 block of State Street where they found a Dodge pickup truck had crashed through a wall of hedges and collided into the side of the four-unit apartment building.

Police said that fortunately, no one in the building was hurt, though there were occupants inside at the time of the crash.

The female driver of the truck sustained only minor injuries and was transported by AMR to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment.

The fire department who was on the scene said the truck clipped a parked car before driving onto the property of the apartment complex. The truck drove through two sets of hedges before striking the structure.

City fire said there was minor damage done to the building, but nothing structural. The vehicle did end up blocking exits to some of the units, but the residents were able to get out through the hedges.

It is still unclear what caused this crash. Santa Barbara Police are investigating the incident.

We will update this story as more information becomes available.
