SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -- The City of Santa Barbara is working with restaurants to allow them to expand outdoors to increase their capacity.

On Wednesday, the City will be offering a webinar to help all restaurants planning to expand their alcohol sales to their new outdoor space.

The webinar will help businesses fill out necessary documents and create the required planned license diagram. It will also give businesses a chance to ask questions about their location.

After the workshop, city officials will collect and drop off the documents to the State's Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) office.

During the second phase of reopening, physical distancing guidelines will limit the amount of customers that can be inside of a business. By expanding outdoors, it will allow restaurants to safely serve more customers.

State Street opened with these new guidelines in time for Memorial Day weekend. City officials closed the street to cars and trucks allowing only pedestrians to use the street and restaurants to expand across the sidewalk.

Businesses interested in signing up for the webinar can do so by clicking here.
