Wet weather boosts sales at local pizza restaurant in Santa Maria

SANTA MARIA, Calif.- All this wet weather doesn’t seem to be stopping customers from coming to Me-n-Ed's Pizzeria in Santa Maria.

Whenever it rains the popular pizza restaurant says they tend to get more takeouts and  and deliveries.

“I think depending on the business, it stops people from coming in. We get a lot Door Dash, a lot of slice orders that seems to pick up. But I think in general, people really like to come sit here and be with their friends and just kind of like hang out at the bar," said Ashley Hylton.

Customers believe the rain attracts more people to the restaurant.

“The bar was packed yesterday with with the football games going on. And like last week, I know that there was it was pretty busy, too, even with the rain. I think it probably brings more people in usually. You know, I think the new year changes things up a little bit. But we have the rains. The rain doesn't really stop people from coming in here," said Joshua Liendo.

Throughout the holiday season managers say the restaurant has been consistently busy.

“We have a lot of people that brought in their family for the holidays. I think it's a place where they want to bring people. They wanted to come and sit down and relax. So it's been nice to see our regulars still coming in, regardless if it's raining, regardless of the holidays. We just never know what's going to happen to the holidays. People are out shopping, they're doing other things, and then they all show up at the same time, which is cool," said Ashley Hylton.

As more rain is expected throughout the region, managers say they’ll be ready.

“For the rest of the week it’ll probably slow down just a little bit because people are getting back to work and kind of recouping from the holidays, but we'll see our same dedicated guests and coming in for their football games and our specials throughout the week and we'll still see those," said Emily Starchman, Me-n-Ed's Pizzeria and Crafthouse general manager.
