Lompoc Aquatic Center plans for full summer reopening

LOMPOC, Calif. - The Lompoc Aquatic Center is preparing to fully open this summer.

It's dealing with a staff shortage, but the center is holding swim instructor training classes free of charge later this month to resolve that issue.

Candidates must be at least 16 years old and demonstrate the front crawl, back crawl, and breaststroke before the class.

Mike Espino, Aquatics Recreation Supervisor, said he's excited to have staff returning to the center.

“Just being able to get staff in and being able to get back to normal operations, I know all the residents of Lompoc are looking forward to that and we want to be able to get up and running as quick as we can,” he said.

The aquatics center will also host lifeguarding classes this month.

You can register for either class by calling 805-875-8100 or visiting the center's website.
