SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. - The Foodbank of Santa Barbara County announced it is in need of more volunteers, especially in north county.

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues pervading the county, the Foodbank said it is experiencing an increased demand for food.

Volunteers would have the opportunity to pack boxes of food for families and help the Foodbank collect 3,000 turkeys in time for Thanksgiving's Senior Home Delivery.

Family food boxes consist of veggies, fruits and staple items. The boxes will be put together at the Foodbank's warehouses.

"It's very rewarding to see the people in need and how happy they are to get the food that we are helping distribute everyday," said Kelli Padilla.

The Foodbank is also seeking volunteers for their daily Picnic in the Park event which distributes food to children in need throughout the county. Spanish language translators and face mask makers are also needed.

For more information and to sign up to volunteer or donate, visit the Foodbank's website at foodbanksbc.org.
