Firefighters battle vegetation fire off Highway 166 near Santa Maria

The fire is located east of Rock Front Ranch within the Los Padres National Forest.

SANTA MARIA VALLEY, Calif. - Santa Barbara County Fire announced they have firefighters helping to respond to a fire that broke out off Highway 166 east of Rock Front Ranch in Santa Maria.

The fire was called in around 3:20 p.m. and is located within the Los Padres National Forest.

As of 4:10 p.m., the fire is about three to five acres in size and is spreading at a moderate rate.

Four helicopters and multiple engines are battling the burn both from the county and the National Forest.
