Santa Maria sidewalk and tree project close to completion

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The sidewalk improvement project in Santa Maria is close to completion, according to the city on Tuesday.

The city says work along South Broadway is 75-percent done.

Crews are removing and replacing damaged curb, gutter, and sidewalk from Cook Street to Stowell Road.

They're also planting trees that are less invasive.

The project is scheduled to be completed by early June.
