Santa Maria-Bonita names new Enos Ranch school

New Santa Maria school being built in Enos Ranch development will be called the William "Bill" Libbon Elementary School.

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The Santa Maria Board of Education has approved a new name for the school being built in the Enos Ranch area.

The school we be named the William "Bill" Libbon Elementary School after the longtime director of the Santa Maria Valley Boys & Girls Club.

The board came to the decision unanimously.

Libbon is a former student of SMBSD and worked for the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Maria Valley for more than 40 years.

The vote on the school name was planned to take place weeks ago but was delayed when board members could not reach a majority on the new name.

Other names being considered back in April included Pleasant Valley and Enos/Enos Ranch.

William Libbon Elementary School is being built near College and Battles Roads. The Santa Maria-Bonita School District plans for the school to open in August along with other schools in the district.
