Motorcyclist arrested after 2 separate chases in Santa Maria Valley
SANTA MARIA, Calif. - A motorcyclist is facing charges after he was involved in two separate chases in the Santa Maria Valley.
The first chase happened last week in Orcutt. A California Highway Patrol officer tried to stop the motorcyclist for an exhaust pipe violation, but he wouldn't pull over.
The officer followed the motorcyclist, but the chase was called off due to safety concerns.
The second chase took place Tuesday around noon.
The same officer from last week's chase spotted the same motorcyclist at Betteravia Road and Miller Street in Santa Maria. Police say the motorcyclist was dressed the same as he was during the previous chase.
The officer chased the motorcyclist all the way to the Sisquoc Area, where the chase ultimately ended on private property along Olivera Canyon Road.
Investigators said the man broke a gate on the property while trying to get away.
The motorcyclist was eventually apprehended and taken into police custody.
He faces possible charges of evading police, two drug charges and a violation for property damage.
His name has not been released at this time.
