Karen Cruz-Orduna // KEYT

SANTA MARIA, Calif. - The City of Santa Maria hosted its final community meeting of the year Thursday night.

The meetings have been focusing on the issues relating to different neighborhoods around Santa Maria. Similar meetings were held for the other three areas over the past few months.

The focus of this meeting was on the southwest part of the city.

"We know that everyday we've got to earn that trust and it's through these types of meetings that we get to meet with some of the same and some different people," said Santa Maria spokesman Mark van de Camp "It's vital to having a cohesive community to know what people want and how we can provide the service."

Other big concerns included revitalizing different areas of the city and new housing for the growing city.
