Organizers announce plans for this year’s Old Spanish Days 2022 in Santa Barbara
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Plans are in the works for the 98th annual Old Spanish Days Fiesta in Santa Barbara.
Organizers gathered on the steps of city hall Monday morning to unveil plans for the largest festival in the region.
"There has been an overwhelming outreach asking about plans for Fiesta 2022, everything from whether there’ll be a parade to the Mercados, and we are thrilled to be able to unveil to the community all of the planned Fiesta events and celebrations during Monday’s media conference," said Maria Cabrera who joins a long list of community and business leaders who have served as Fiesta president.
Cabrera was joined by Fiesta officials, Santa Barbara Mayor Randy Rowse, and members of Fiesta collaborative partners to go over the plans for this year's festival.
Organizers announced a new parade route since most of State Street, where the parade typically occurs, is shut down to cars. The parade will go east down Cabrillo Boulevard on Friday, Aug. 5 and conclude at the rainbow arches on the corner of Cabrillo Boulevard and Calle Puerto Vallarta.
La Fiesta Pequeña will take place at the Santa Barbara Mission on Wednesday, Aug. 3 from 8 p.m. Noches de Ronda will take place from Aug. 4-6 at the Sunken Gardens at the Santa Barbara County Courthouse.
