Montecito pedestrian undercrossing path to close for major improvements

Caltrans

MONTECITO, Calif. -- The Butterfly Lane undercrossing lane will be closed beginning on December 6.

The $3.7 million project will be closing the lane until summer of 2022.

The improvements include reconstructing the stairs, adding new ramps for wheelchairs and mobility scooter access, a new walkway, handrails, and crossing arms with visual and audio signals.

The Olive Mill Road Overcrossing is an alternative route that can be used while the undercrossing lane is under construction.

The mural inside of the undercrossing will be maintained.

C.A. Rasmussen Inc. from Valencia is the contractor for this project.
