Teacher helps put out fire in front of San Marcos High School

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - A Santa Barbara High School teacher was the first on scene to a brush fire that broke out near San Marcos High School Wednesday evening.

The fire was sparked in a median on Hollister Avenue.

San Marcos principal Kip Glazer captured video of the fire with her phone. Glazer says Santa Barbara teacher Paul Forster happened to be in the area and ran out with a fire extinguisher. Firefighters eventually arrived on scene and put the fire out for good.

Glazer says firefighters think some vegetation may have fallen on a nearby power line and sparked the fire.

Traffic on Hollister Avenue was temporarily affected.
