Gaviota rest stop to close for major renovations

SANTA BARBARA COUNT, Calif. -- The Gaviota rest stop will be closing for major renovations on June 11.

Caltrans says the rest areas will be closed in both directions from June 11 until February 2022.

The rest stop will be receiving upgrades to the wastewater treatment and electrical systems, installation of a new water storage tank/pump house and a new crew building.

The project will cost $4.6 million.

Specialty Construction of San Luis Obispo will be the contractors for the renovations.
