Two hospitalized after high-damage crash near Chumash Casino

SANTA YNEZ VALLEY, Calif. - Two victims sustained moderate to major injuries during a single-vehicle crash near the Chumash Casino Resort Saturday morning.

The crash occurred around 6:04 a.m. at Highway 246 and Casino Drive in Santa Ynez.

Upon arriving, Santa Barbara County firefighters reported finding a vehicle with major front-end damage.

A city traffic light pole was also toppled over.

Two victims were located inside the vehicle. One, a minor, had critical injuries while the other, an adult, had moderate injuries. No extrication was required to get the victims out of the vehicle.

Both the minor and adult were transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in AMR ambulances.

California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.

Some traffic restrictions were in place in the immediate area while emergency personnel responded to the wreck.
