Santa Barbara County reports three additional inmate COVID-19 cases

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. -- Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office reports three additional inmates that have tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday.

These inmates were part of the Main Jail.

The three inmates were tested as part of a contact tracing from an outbreak that was discovered two weeks ago. The previous case has been quarantined since the discovery.

The Sheriff's Office says all three inmates are being monitored by custody and medical staff on a regular basis.

One previous COVID-19 positive inmate has recovered and another was released by the court last Friday.

Currently there are 42 active COVID-19 cases in the facility. 29 of those cases have recovered. 12 have been released from custody. And there was one inmate death.
