Firefighters extinguish carport fire in Lompoc

LOMPOC, Calif. -- Lompoc Fire responded to a four-car carport fire early Wednesday morning.

Lompoc City Fire crews along with Santa Barbara County and Vandenberg Air Force Fire Departments responded around 4:30 a.m. to reports of a carport on fire next to an apartment complex on the 600 block of North Fourth Street.

Crews arrived on scene to find the carport fully on fire. Firefighters took approximately 20 minutes to extinguish the fire.

Crews remained on scene for another two hours salvaging and overhauling the damage.

City fire says the fire caused a power shut off to the apartment complex where it broke out. People who live there had to relocate until the power is restored.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
