SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. - Two hikers were airlifted off Tunnel Trail in Santa Barbara County Friday evening after one hiker suffered an arm injury.

County Fire received the call around 4:17 p.m.

SBCSAR, firefighters and AMR responded to the base of Tunnel Trail in the Los Padres National Forest north of Santa Barbara. Crews determined the two hikers were a fair distance up the trail.

Do to the remote location, County Air Support helicopter 4 was called to the scene. Copter 4 responded with paramedics onboard and located the two hikers, described as a man and woman, about halfway up the ridge just down from Arlington Peak.

The helicopter lowered a paramedic down to the hikers. After assessing them, the paramedic determined the woman had suffered a wrist injury after falling on the trail.

Crews decided to hoist both hikers into the helicopter. They were then flown to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment.

It is unclear how serious the hiker's injuries are at this time.
