Man arrested for a loaded firearm and narcotics inside vehicle

OXNARD, Calif.- Patrol officers in Oxnard conducted a traffic stop on a 2000 Honda Accord for a Vehicle Code violation in the 500 block of La Canada Avenue around 2:25 Thursday morning.

As the officer approached the vehicle, he noticed a passenger exit and flee the vehicle. The officer discovered a loaded handgun under the driver seat as well as a sawed off shotgun.

During the arrest of the driver, Francisco Lopez, the officer found a small amount of methamphetamine and ammunition. Lopez was arrested for several felony firearm-related charges and possession of a control substance.
