Fundraiser buys meals for Cottage Hospital workers while supporting local restaurants
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - A South Coast realtor has put together a way to thank our healthcare workers, while giving local businesses a boost during the coronavirus pandemic.
Erin Chadwick caught wind of a fundraising idea being done in cities across the country. It's a way to a raise money to buy meals for hospital staff from local restaurants who are struggling to keep their businesses afloat. A simple idea with a huge impact.
Chadwick and friend, Austin Lampson set up a GoFundMe page, asking for donations. Their goal is to feed 75 people in the emergency department at Cottage Hospital everyday. Each meal costs $10, but they say that any amount donated is appreciated.
One Cottage staff member said, "We don't ask or expect anything back but we are so proud and grateful to be apart of this community that wants to show their appreciation and give something back to us. It really shows what a caring community we live in, basically we have each others back and are all in this together. We can't express enough on how grateful we are to the community!"
