Two arrested following police pursuit in Paso Robles

PASO ROBLES, Calif.– A 36-year-old and 32-year-old man were arrested in a police pursuit around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Paso Robles Police Department.
Paso Robles police officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop near 14th and Olive Street when during the stop the 36-year-old driver began to conceal something under the driver's seat before speeding off.
During the police chase, the driver tossed a stolen handgun out the window and let out two passengers inside the vehicle, which included a 32-year-old Santa Margarita man with outstanding warrants who was arrested.
Due to safety concerns for the general public, law enforcement terminated the chase but received a call shortly after from an off-duty motor officer who spotted the outstanding driver outside the city limits.
Detectives in the area alongside California Highway Patrol were able to apprehend using a spike strip to stop the driver from evading police and was eventually arrested in Kern County.
The driver was booked into SLO County Jail for outstanding warrants, evading, possession of stolen property, and numerous weapons charges, according to the Paso Robles PD.
This is an ongoing investigation.
