Atascadero man arrested for illegal possession of guns, narcotics

ATASCADERO, Calif. -- Atascadero police arrested a suspect on multiple charges on Tuesday.

On Tuesday at around 2 a.m., an Atascadero police officer observed a man looking into parked cars at a motel parking lot on the 9400 block of El Camino Real.

Police says the man was acting suspicious and was allegedly concealing something in his waistband.

The man was then detained by officers.

Police conducted a search of the suspect and say they found a fixed blade knife concealed under his shirt.

Officers continued their search and found a .40 caliber pistol in his waistband.

The suspect was identified as a 27-year-old Atascadero man.

Police say they also found three additional fixed blade knives, a switchblade, a baggie of suspected methamphetamine, a baggie of suspected heroin and a baggie containing pills that Catron identified as Xanax.  

Police also searched his car and found a rifle, stun gun, drug paraphernalia and additional pills. 

He was arrested on scene on multiple charges including felon in possession of a firearm, prohibited person in possession of ammunition, possession of controlled substance while armed, possession of controlled substance, possession of narcotics, carrying a concealed dirk or dagger, possession of unlawful paraphernalia, possession of controlled substances for sale and carrying a switchblade.

The suspect was booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail.
