SLO police arrest teen DUI suspect after crashing into home

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- San Luis Obispo police arrested a 17-year-old suspect for driving under the influence and crashing his car into a home on Wednesday night.

On Wednesday at around 10:33 p.m., San Luis Obispo police and San Luis Obispo City Fire responded to reports of a car crash into a home on the 1400 block of Garcia in San Luis Obispo.

First responders arrived to find that an SUV had crashed into the front of the home and went through a couple rooms and partially broke through the back of the residence.

There were five victims inside the home when the crash happened.

Three of the victims had injuries with one of them being transported to the hospital for serious injuries.

Police found that there were four minors from the ages of 14 to 17 in the SUV. They were uninjured from the crash. All were from San Luis Obispo.

The driver, a 17-year-old male, suffered minor injuries. He was arrested for felony DUI.

In their investigation, officer determined that the car had fled from the Grocery Outlet at 1314 Madonna Road after a theft.

Police say one of the minors stole alcohol and other items from the store. They all got into the SUV and fled the scene.

The investigation is still on-going.

Due to the suspects being minors, police will not be releasing information on their identity at this time.
