California Mid-State Fair postpones fair competitions

PASO ROBLES, Calif. - Competitions at the California Mid-State Fair have been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

California Mid-State fair organizers say due to the guidelines laid out by San Luis Obispo County, competitions at the fair will be postponed to a later date.

This includes the 2020 Central Coast Wine Competition, 2020 Central Coast Vinegar Competition and the 2020 California Craft Spirits Competition. These events have been postponed to a later date in the summer. Participating wineries and businesses have been contacted.

Registration will stay open for all three of these competitions until the new deadline of Friday, July 3.

The 2020 Home Winemaking Competition has also been postponed. The registration deadline has already past and exhibitors have been informed of the decision.

Currently, the California Mid-State Fair is still slated to take place from July 22 - Aug. 2.

The California Mid-State Fair Board of Directors has discussed the future of the 2020 fair, but have delayed their ultimate decision on whether to cancel, postpone or proceed as planned. A decision is expected to be made before before the next regularly scheduled board meeting on June 17.
