Orcutt shelter-in-place lifted after suspicious package investigation
ORCUTT, Calif. - UPDATE: The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department lifted a shelter-in-place in Orcutt and declared the area safe just after 10:15 p.m. Sunday after a bomb squad recovered a device at Foster Road and Odie Lane, following a suspicious package investigation.
Shelter in place has been lifted. Device has been recovered and the area is safe. Thank you for your cooperation.

The Sheriff's Department announced the initial shelter-in-place just after 8:45 p.m.

Foster Road was closed from Orcutt Road to Hummel Drive. The shelter in place went into effect for residents south of the closure to Union Valley Parkway.
People in the area received an emergency alert about the shelter in place on their phones.
