Cal Poly alum prepping for return to Earth
Cal Poly alum Victor Glover and three other astronauts are wrapping up their time aboard the International Space Station.
They were scheduled to return to earth Wednesday, but NASA announced late Monday that the return has been delayed to Saturday morning, because of predicted high winds in the Gulf of Mexico "splashdown zone."
Earlier this week, Glover said the whole mission has been amazing, especially the first time seeing Earth from above.
"One thing that did really profoundly impacat me was the first time I got out of the seat after Resilience was safely out the window and saw the earth from 250 miles up. I will never forget that," Glover said.
Splashdown on Saturday will mark only the second time since 1975 that astronauts from any nation have ended their mission with an ocean landing.
