Gyms in Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo counties operate outdoors during the rain

CENTRAL COAST, Calif. - Gyms are still being affected by the regional stay-at-home order, and on Monday night, local facilities were braving the weather so customers could still get in a workout.

The Yoga Shack in Nipomo has moved all of its operations outdoors to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

It was closed for the holidays and plans to be back open on New Year's Day.

At the Santa Maria Town Center Mall, Crunch Fitness has quite literally taken over the second floor parking lot, moving a lot of its equipment outside.

“Health and wellness is important and especially on a normal cold and flu season, so taking care of your body is important,” said The Yoga Shack Owner Lori Anderson.

“This is the best way to do it, release some of the stress, release some of the anxiety, to get you out of the house,” said Crunch Fitness Owner Arturo Quezada.

NewsChannel 12 checked in with the local health departments which are still urging indoor gyms to remain closed until further notice.
