Caught on camera: suspects flee crime scene in Santa Maria

SANTA MARIA, Calif - Santa Maria police have released new video linked to a recent assault in Santa Maria.

The assault happened on Oct. 30 around 3:30 p.m. at a Mobil gas station on the 2400 block of South Broadway.

When police arrived to the scene, they discovered a man who was severely injured and unconscious.

Detectives determined the assault was gang-related and have arrested three people so far: 19-year-old Christian Garcia, 23-year-old Eric Valentin and 19-year-old Kevin Nunez.

Lt. Paul Van Meel said he was made aware of the video. It shows at least seven people running from the gas station and into a car located in a parking lot.

Detectives are releasing the footage in hopes that someone will come forward with information to help identify the other people involved.
