SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- The KCOY Turkey Drive is once again receiving a big assist from Dimes Media.

The San Luis Obispo-based company owns and operates several popular Central Coast radio stations, including Wild 106, 95.3 The Beach, B98.5, Alt 93.7 and KPIG.

For a fourth straight year, Dimes is teaming up with KCOY to provide valuable on-air promotion for the upcoming Turkey Drive.

The KCOY Turkey Drive is set for Thursday, November 21, from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

"I'm excited about it," said Wild 106 morning DJ JoJo Lopez. "I love it every year. This is one of my favorite things that I look forward to."

In the days leading up to the event, Dimes radio personalities will promote the annual event that benefits the Food Bank Coalition in San Luis Obispo County and Good Samaritan Shelter in Santa Barbara County.

"Dimes Media is a local company and we use what we have as this voice with these radio stations to give back," said Lopez. "It's really our duty and responsibility to do these kinds of events and give something back to the community and this is something that we love getting behind."

During the day of the drive, Dimes will broadcast live on location outside California Fresh Market in Pismo Beach.

"When you get to go out of the studio, it definitely makes it more exciting, so to be on location and have everything set up, have people coming over, giving turkeys, giving donations, it's fun," said B98.5 DJ Davinia Palmer. "It makes it much more fun."

Both Lopez and Palmer will be on location in Pismo Beach during the Turkey Drive.

They each have taken part in the annual event the past two years.

"It's so inspirational when people give something from the heart and they want to help and you see that, you see the generosity, you see the kindness in their faces," said Palmer.

As they broadcast live, Lopez and Palmer will be giving away several prizes, including concert tickets and local gift cards.

With the help from the Dimes and many other participants, Food Bank is hoping to distribute more than 1,400-1,500 turkeys this holiday season.

"We want to give everyone the chance to engage in that sort of holiday meal and we know we it means to sit together with our family and friends in that time of year and to celebrate in that fashion," said Food Bank Director of Operations Time Parker.

The KCOY Turkey Drive will have several donation drop-off locations, including:

*KCOY studios in Santa Maria
*Grocery Outlet Bargain Market in Lompoc
*California Fresh Market in Pismo Beach
*Food Bank Coalition of SLO County in San Luis Obispo
*Vons in San Luis Obispo
*Vons in Atascadero

All donations collected in Northern Santa Barbara County benefit Good Samaritan Shelter, while those collected in San Luis Obispo County go towards the Food Bank Coalition.
