ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. - Firefighters responded to a commercial fire at an Arroyo Grande Walmart Sunday afternoon.

The fire was reported around 11:53 a.m. Crews from CAL FIRE, Five Cities Fire Authority, Santa Maria Fire and San Luis Obispo City Fire were dispatched to the structure on the 1100 block of West Branch Street.

Pictures posted by Five Cities Fire on Twitter show black smoke and flames coming from the side of the Walmart.

All customers and employees were safely evacuated. No injuries were reported.

Five Cities Fire said the flames did not extend into the store and the building's indoor fire sprinklers were not activated. Flames were mostly contained to an outdoor merchandise storage area next to the store.

At 1:36 p.m., Santa Maria Fire announced the blaze was knocked down. Crews remained on scene to overhaul.

It is unclear when the store will reopen.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
