Vegetation fire flares up at Santa Barbara Pistachio Company farm

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. - Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to the Santa Barbara Pistachio farm along Highway 33 after a small vegetation fire flared up in the area Sunday morning.

The fire was first reported around 10:35 a.m. on the 3400 block of Highway 33 just south of Highway 166, east of New Cuyama.

Firefighters at the scene around 11:30 a.m. reported the fire was one to three acres in size, burning in light fuel.

At this time, the fire has a moderate rate of spread.

No structures are threatened and no injuries have been reported.

Ventura County and Los Padres National Forest firefighters are on scene assisting.

SB County Fire said all assisting aircraft have been canceled as ground crews are expected to fully handle the burn.
