Firefighters determine cause of Soda Fire in California Valley

CALIFORNIA VALLEY, Calif. -- CAL FIRE SLO determined the cause of the Soda Fire on Thursday morning.

Investigators have determined that the fire was started when a trailer, after losing a tire, was being pulled on Highway 58 near Soda Lake Road.

Fire officials say neither of the solar plants were damaged but several out building were destroyed.

The Soda Fire was reported around 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the 11500 block Highway 58.

The fire burned on both sides of the highway.

The fire is at 1,672 acres with 80 percent containment according to CAL FIRE SLO.

Crews and strike teams will continue to contain the fire in the area.
