Firefighters respond to vegetation fire in Los Padres National Forest

LOS PADRES NATIONAL FOREST, Calif. - Santa Barbara County firefighters are assisting Los Padres National Forest in responding to a vegetation fire within the forest Monday evening.

The call went out around 5:05 p.m. at Red Rock Camp in Los Padres.

SB County said the fire appears to be between two and four acres and is burning just off Paradise Road in the national forest.

As of 5:54 p.m., SB County Fire canceled all responding units that had not already arrived to the scene except for one helicopter.

Remaining crews worked to knock down the fire and expect to have all forward progress of the flames stopped soon.

The recorded temperature is 96 degrees and winds are reaching about 12 miles per hour at this time.

CHP responded to the area to block traffic on Paradise Road around 5:09 p.m.
