SB County Fire Department fights 1 acre vegetation fire near Lompoc

LOMPOC, Calif. - The Santa Barbara County Fire Department responded to reports of a vegetation fire burning on the 400 block of Mail Road off of Highway 246 between Buellton and Lompoc.

The fire started just before 10 p.m.

SB County Fire Public Information Officer Daniel Bertucelli said four county fire engines and two water tenders are responding to the fire.

The fire is about 1 acre in size as of 10:30 p.m. burning in heavy, thick vegetation in a creek bed.

Fire crews are putting hose lines around the fire and knocking down the fire. A bulldozer is also en route to start lining the fire.

No injuries were reported and no structures or buildings are threatened by the blaze.

An investigator is on their way to the fire to investigate the cause.
