Lompoc Unified offers students over 16 transportation to get vaccinated

KEYT

LOMPOC, Calif. - The Lompoc Unified School District announced that it is working with Lompoc Valley Medical Center to get students over 16 vaccinated for COVID-19.

The school district will be offering transportation from high school campuses to the hospital where students will receive the vaccine and be returned to school.

“We are excited to once again to partner with LVMC to provide this opportunity for interested families,” said Superintendent Trevor McDonald. “We do not want transportation to get in the way of kids getting vaccinated. We are here to help.”

In order to participate, students' parents must fill out a consent form.

Once those are completed, the district said students will be driven in groups to the medical center.

“We plan to start transporting students to obtain vaccinations as early as this coming week. Then, we will work with families so their child can receive the second dose as well,” said Deputy Superintendent, Bree Valla.

“This is what it is all about, our schools and community working together so we can all be safe and return to normal,” said Steve Straight, School Board member.
