Suspected gunman arrested for attempted murder after man shot, hospitalized in Paso Robles

PASO ROBLES, Calif. - Paso Robles police arrested a suspected gunman on Sunday after a man was found with a gunshot wound to the side of his head.

Officers received a 911 call around 12:55 p.m. from the 1000 block of Dorothy Street.

The caller said someone in her household had been shot in the head by a man who ran out of the house.

Officers arrived at the scene and located a 29-year-old man suffering from a wound to the side of his head. The man was conscious and able to provide police with some information before being transported to Sierra Vista Hospital in San Luis Obispo where he underwent surgery. Police said the man's injuries were serious but not life-threatening.

As the investigation continued, officers were able to identify the possible shooter as a 20-year-old Paso Robles man who they believed fled to San Miguel.

With help from a CHP helicopter and ground units from the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office, the man was found walking in San Miguel and arrested without incident.

Police said they also found the suspected weapon during the incident.

The man was booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail on felony charges for attempted murder and being a felon in possession of a handgun.

Detectives are investigating why this shooting occurred.
