SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – A San Luis Obispo man was arrested Sunday after police say he fell asleep in his car with a replica handgun.

Police responded to the 1000 block of Southwood Drive Sunday morning after a concerned citizen reported a man was asleep in his car with a gun visible in his lap.

Officers arrived on scene and confirmed the man was asleep and a gun was visible. They used the loudspeaker on their patrol vehicle to awaken the man and tell him to exit the vehicle. After awakening, police said the 37-year-old man was initially uncooperative but eventually surrendered and was taken into custody.

Police arrested a man who they said was in possession of meth for sale.

Police recovered the handgun which turned out to be a replica Glock firearm. He was also found to be in possession of two ounces of methamphetamine "for sale," police said.

He was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail where he awaits possible gun and drug charges.
