SB Unified employee accused of sexual abuse of child
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - An employee with the Santa Barbara Unified School District has been arrested and is accused of sexually abusing a child and possessing child pornography.
The school district confirmed on Tuesday that an employee was arrested earlier this month and faces felony charges related to abuse of a child.
The employee, who was not named, faces felony charges for continuous sexual abuse of a child and possession or control of child pornogprahy. The employee also faces a misdemeanor of "Invade Privacy: Look Through Holes/Etc.”
The employee was immediately placed on unpaid leave, a representative for the school district said.
The school district said that police have advised that the crimes appear to be isolated and were a domestic matter. Santa Barbara police said there is no threat to the public and no evidence of any abuse of students of the school district, but the investigation is ongoing.
